Top 3 Insta360 Ace Pro 2 Features Underwater Shooters Will Love
No underwater setup is complete without a point-and-shoot action camera capable of recording high-quality video at the press of a button. Since the beginning of 2024, I’ve been shooting exclusively with Insta360, and I’m currently using the Ace Pro 2, mounted on my underwater housing on just about every dive.

When choosing an action camera for underwater shooting, the single most important factor is colour accuracy and overall image quality.
This is where the Ace Pro 2 really excels. It’s known for producing vibrant footage straight out of the camera, while still remaining true to the natural environment. The Ace Pro 2 offers several colour profiles; however, underwater shooters typically prefer the “Standard” profile or the dedicated “Underwater Mode”, which optimises colours, corrects distortion, and enhances stabilisation for smoother footage.
Image quality from the Ace Pro 2 is consistently sharp and clear. While the camera supports up to 8K video, I personally find 4K to be the sweet spot—offering excellent resolution while keeping file sizes manageable.
2. One-Button Control Underwater
One of the most underrated features of the Ace Pro 2 is the ability to switch between pre-set settings with the press of a single button—even through the dive case.
Being able to toggle between settings like 4K/60fps, 4K/120fps, or 8K/30fps while underwater is a game-changer. It gives you maximum flexibility mid-dive. For example, if you want to capture super high-resolution footage at 8K without maxing out your memory card in one dive, you can assign it as a preset and cycle through your options seamlessly.
This feature simplifies your workflow underwater and puts more creative control at your fingertips.
3. Insta360 Studio Software
Insta360 Studio is the brand’s post-production editing software, and it’s a major plus for anyone looking to enhance their footage quickly and easily.
You can download it on desktop or mobile, and it offers both manual editing tools and a selection of presets to help you fine-tune colour, speed, and framing. I’ve used a number of simple video editing apps over the years, but Insta360 Studio is—hands down—the most user-friendly in my experience.
As someone who focuses more on photography than video, I find the software a lifesaver when it comes to getting video content ready to share fast.
